July is ending and August is coming fast. School teachers will be in their classroom in just a few weeks, preparing for the upcoming school year. This is the time of the year when we need to think about the needs of our teachers. They have our most valuable possession in their care for many hours during the day. What can we do to support them.

If we are a parent you can certainly show your support for the teachers by talking to your children about respect. Respect means “treating others the way they would like to be treated”. Talk to them about showing respect for the teacher by focusing in school (looking and listening to one thing at a time), following the rules in the classroom, turning homework in on time complete and neat, answering and participating in school.

I was thinking too that respect for your classmates is another way of showing respect for the teachers. The less time they need to spend on disciplining students in the classroom – the more time they have for completing the work at hand. It may also give them time to give extra help or do other fun things with their students.

The work our teachers do is so important and difficult. They do an outstanding job and all of us, parents, administration, public officials and the business community have a responsibility to support them in every way they can possibly can. That is why I started the Grants for Teachers Fund. Each year we give out mini grants of up to $500 for teachers projects that they would like to do or sometimes simply supplies for their classroom. Can you support this project?

You can go to this site and make a one time donation or do as I do and make a monthly contribution. Doing so will allow us to do even more for the teachers in our community. Your support will have a major impact on the morale of the teachers and their students education.
